The short version
- Entry is free and automatic. Post a qualifying Trade Thesis on the run's designated token on Fomo during the entry window. Your public Fomo @ becomes your runner. There is no signup, no form and no Enter button.
- Nobody controls the runners. An authoritative simulation runs the race from a seed committed before entries open. Every runner has identical stats.
- First across the line wins. The prize is funded before entries open and paid once to the wallet verified for the winning Fomo identity.
- No wagering, ever. No entry fee, no paid boosts, and spectators cannot put value on any runner.
How to enter
Each official run is announced on FomoRun with its designated Fomo token, entry window, start time, grid size and prize. To enter that run:
- Publish a Trade Thesis on Fomo about the designated token, between the entry window's opening and closing times.
- FomoRun detects the thesis through an authorized Fomo integration, verifies it and enters your Fomo identity automatically, with the next free runner number.
- Your public Fomo @ is shown above your runner. You do not need to visit FomoRun to take part — search your @ any time to see your entry, your live race and your result.
A thesis qualifies when it concerns the designated token, comes from a valid Fomo identity, is created inside the entry window, satisfies Fomo's own validity requirements, and is that identity's first entry for the run. We never judge a thesis's content: bullish or bearish, short or long, polished or blunt — all count the same. Position size, balance, PnL, followers and account age are never considered.
Grid size. Runs take between 2 and 32 runners (the exact number is shown per run). Entries are accepted in the order theses are verified until the grid is full. A thesis that arrives after the grid is full, or outside the window, does not enter that run and is not moved to another run.
One runner per identity. Each Fomo identity can hold one runner per official run. Additional theses from the same identity are recorded but do not create more runners.
Free entry · no wagering
FomoRun charges nothing to enter, watch or win, and nothing can be bought from FomoRun that changes a result. There are no entry fees, no paid boosts, no power-ups, no pools, and no way for spectators to put money or value on a runner. Cosmetics (colours, tops, hats, trails) are assigned automatically and are visual only.
Posting on Fomo is governed by Fomo's own terms and app rules, which FomoRun does not control. FomoRun does not require, reward or look at any trade, position or balance.
FomoRun will never ask for a private key, seed phrase, recovery phrase, password or payment to enter or to receive a prize. Anyone asking for these in FomoRun's name is not us.
Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher.
- You must live in a jurisdiction where free promotional contests of this kind are lawful. The game is void where prohibited or restricted by law, and prizes cannot be paid to persons or places subject to sanctions.
- You must enter with your own Fomo identity, in good standing under Fomo's terms. One person, one identity: entries from duplicate or shared identities may be disqualified.
- You are responsible for any taxes on a prize and for complying with the laws that apply to you.
- Eligibility can be checked before a prize is paid. If a winner turns out to be ineligible, the prize is held and handled under the void-run rules below — it is never re-assigned to a different runner by hand.
How a run is decided
When entries close, the grid locks, the seed is revealed and start lanes are drawn from it. At the start time every runner leaves the gates together after a short countdown. From then on the race is a pure simulation: obstacles, routes, jumps, falls and recoveries all come from the seed and the physics — viewers have no input.
- Every runner has identical stats. Small per-race tendencies (aggressive, safe, shortcut-leaning…) are drawn from the seed and balanced so every runner has the same expected chance.
- A runner that falls off the course respawns at its last checkpoint with a time penalty. Nobody is sent back to the start.
- The winner is the first runner across the finish line, timed to the millisecond. A finish gap under 150 ms is shown as a photo finish; the recorded finish times still decide it.
- The final whistle: once the winner crosses the line, everyone else has 40 seconds to finish (and no run lasts longer than 6 minutes). Anyone still on the course at the whistle is recorded as did-not-finish and classified behind every finisher by how far they got.
- Drafting is real: tucking in behind a runner builds a slipstream to slingshot past. Runners who fall far behind the leader find a little extra pace, which fades out on the final straight. The same rules apply to every runner, every race.
- The authoritative race server is the only source of results. What a spectator's screen shows is a replay of that server's state.
Fair play & verification
Nobody — including FomoRun — can pick the winner. Every official run uses a public commit/reveal seed:
seedCommit = SHA-256(secretSeed) // published when entries open
participantsHash = SHA-256(entryIds by runner number, joined with ",")
roundSeed = SHA-256("fomorun:race:" + secretSeed + ":" + raceId + ":" + participantsHash)
eventHash[n] = SHA-256(eventHash[n-1] + "|" + canonicalJson(event[n])) // eventHash[-1] = seedCommitThe secret seed is revealed when entries lock, so it was fixed before anyone knew the final grid, and the grid was fixed before anyone knew the seed. Lanes and the whole race are derived from roundSeed. Every race event is hash-chained, and the final result — finish order, times, final event hash, versions and prize — is signed with FomoRun's published result key.
Each run's fair-play page (linked from its result) re-checks all of this in your browser: the commit matches the reveal, the participants hash and round seed match, the lanes match, and re-running the simulation reproduces the same finish order and final event hash. It also shows the signature and the payout transaction.
Prizes & payouts
- Pre-funded. A run's prize is funded before its entry window opens. FUNDED ✓ is only displayed after the funding has been verified. FomoRun only advertises prizes in assets and networks it can actually pay.
- Who is paid. The prize goes to the winning runner's Fomo identity, sent to the wallet reliably associated with that identity through the authorized Fomo integration. FomoRun never pays to an address typed in by anyone, and never asks the winner for keys.
- When. After the race finishes, its signed result is verified, the funding is re-checked, the winner and wallet are confirmed, and the transfer is submitted. Payout status and the transaction appear on the run's result and fair-play pages.
- Exactly once. Each run has one payout, protected by a unique idempotency key (
FOMORUN_PAYOUT_<raceId>), so a prize can never be paid twice. - Held payouts. If a wallet cannot be verified, or eligibility needs review, the payout is held rather than sent somewhere uncertain, and is released only once resolved.
- Season points (P1 25, P2 18, P3 15, P4 12 …) are for the leaderboard only and are separate from prizes.
Void runs
A run is declared VOID — and no winner is invented — when:
- fewer runners than the run's minimum have entered when entries close (“not enough runners”);
- a run with a prize is not verifiably funded by the time entries close (“prize not funded”);
- the race server fails or cannot produce a trustworthy, signed result (“race server failure”);
- the run is cancelled before it starts, for example for a technical or legal reason.
No prize is paid for a void run. Its funded prize stays in the prize vault for a later run or is returned to the funder; the outcome is shown on the run's page. Entering a void run costs nothing, and entrants keep their history.
Conduct & disqualification
FomoRun may reject entries or disqualify runners for duplicate or fake identities, replayed or forged theses or payloads, attempts to interfere with the race server or the integration, or breaking Fomo's terms. Bots never enter official runs — the bot-only demo race exists so anyone can watch how a run plays out, with no entries and no prize. Decisions are logged, and a disqualification never hands the win to a different runner by hand.
Versions & changes
These are rules fomorun-rules-v1. Every run records the rules version, simulation version and course version it ran under, and completed runs are never re-judged under newer versions. Changes apply only to runs announced after the change.
